Derbyshire

The very rare colydiid, Myrmechixenus subterraneus [RDB I] (Colydiidae) was last recorded in the British Isles near Cromford in 1956 and might still occur in the area. The brave coleopterist should seek this species in nests of the wood ants Formica rufa and F. lugubris, any time from May to October.
