National Coleoptera recording schemes are organised by the Biological Records Centre (NERC Centre for Ecology and Hydrology, Monks Wood, Abbots Ripton, Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire PE28 2LS). Their principal aim is to collect records for particular groups of beetles with a view to publishing 'provisional atlases' of national 10-km square dot distribution maps. A list of provisional atlases in print is available from the Publications Section of CEH Monks Wood.
Supplies of record cards, instructions on their completion, a full list of cards, and a synopsis of beetle recording cards and schemes, are available free of charge from the BRC at the above address. The BRC web site also includes a printed form for ordering record cards and a list of national recording schemes with contact names and addresses, the Coleoptera part of which is reproduced here (with corrections for changes of address):
